Audi wants to enter F1 with immediate success in 2026 and now its team has two key leaders who were meant to map out the same path to glory for McLaren.
It’s taken Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl just five months to hire a familiar name from his time at McLaren, with James Key announced as Sauber’s new technical director.
Key was sacked by McLaren in April as part of a technical restructuring initiated by Seidl’s successor Andrea Stella - but his time as a free agent was minimal, and now two pillars of the McLaren revival are rejigging their grand vision to fit a fully-fledged Audi works team.
